5 Ways To Take Care Of Your Mental & Emotional Health

Personal growth work is powerful for two reasons.

The first is that it supports us to break through the ‘barriers’ between where we are and the success we desire. The second is that it empowers and strengthens us for the times when we face adversity.

Put simply, our state of mental and emotional health impacts our entire life – and the outcome of our life.

And right now? We need to be mentally poised and vital more than ever.

Here are 5 ways to take care of YOUR mental and emotional well-being during this time.

1: Be Grateful & Humble For Your Gifts

Gratitude truly is the greatest healer. It calms the mind and body, opens the heart, and helps us to access the higher functions of our brain (the corpus collosum – otherwise known as the prefrontal cortex or the executive centre of the brain).

Seeing what we DO have in troubled times puts things into perspective and can empower us to move past what is troubling us.

As we experience gratitude, we become present with where we are – and from this place, we can often see the silver lining or the next step to take x

2: State Your Problems (Clearly)

Instead of floating around in a cloud of anxiety that drains you, be proactive in taking the first step in overcoming a challenge: knowing what it is.

Don’t over-exaggerate the issue. Get your power back by first identifying the challenge. Acknowledge the feelings you have surrounding it (you might choose to do emotional work to help) but then eliminate any drama by pinpointing the specific problem you need to solve.

You might find that this simple step might trigger wisdom and ideas to start popping into your mind on how to move forwards.

As Albert Einstein was quoted to have said, “A problem well-stated is a problem half-solved.”

3: Look For Solutions, Not Obstacles

It might take strength to do this, but make sure that you devote ALL of your energy into finding a solution to the problem you’re facing.

Holding onto, worrying or complaining endlessly about the issues you’re facing won’t get you any closer to overcoming them. It will only feed the energy that you don’t want x

Trust that there is a solution available, be willing to act on it, and make sure that feel WORTHY of receiving the idea that turns everything around for you.

You deserve this.

4: Don’t Suffer In Silence

One of the greatest lessons of my adult life has been to OPEN UP and ask for help. I used to stew over my problems for hours, days, weeks or even months, keeping it inside, and bottling my deep concerns up inside me.

Now I have a golden rule: if something is bothering me for more than 24 hours, I tell someone about it. I find a loved one or a trusted listening ear, and I let it out.

The very act of expressing it and opening up about it puts the process of healing it in motion. It works every time and reminds me that truly, no man (or woman) is an island 🙂

5: Support Your Body To Support Your Mind

Your health and well-being in life is just as much body over mind as it is mind over body.

Everything you eat, drink, do and the way that you move (or not) during the day influences the level of mental clarity you have.

Too much sugar, highly processed, low quality, and low nutritional value foods that are hard for your body to assimilate will only leave you feeling depleted and heavy.

Now more than ever, let’s eat clean and drink well so we can rise up. Your body is your home on Earth <3

The greater your own well-being, the more equipped you are to be strong for others when they need it. So, take care of yourself x

From my heart to yours, stay well.
