We each have a natural calling within us to fulfil our purpose on planet Earth.
No matter where we go or what we do, that calling follows us. It’s there through every twist and turn of our journey, and the pull from within to pursue what inspires us never goes away. Our soul keeps calling us to greater pastures – towards the life that we are capable of.
In my experience, the most effective way to fulfil our purpose, is to close the gap between what we feel born to do and what we are paid to do.
In other words, find our dream career.
Doing this enables us to devote ourselves to our soul’s mission and pour our heart into our work. More of our time is invested into what matters, and the boundaries that most people put up between work and the rest of their life dissolve.
It is also where the magic and beauty that is available to us happens; when who we are by soul and what we do by trade overlap perfectly.
Here’s a simple 3 step exercise that will help you define YOUR dream career.
STEP 1: Write A List Of What You Love To Do
Take out a blank piece of paper and write a list of everything that you love to do.
- What inspires you?
- What are you doing when time slips by without you noticing?
- Where do you get into ‘the zone’?
- What intrigues or fascinates you?
- What do you care about most?
Examples from my own life: writing, travelling, self-development, city lights, clothes, business.
STEP 2: Circle The Ones You Want To Share With Others
From your list, select the top 1-3 activities (or areas of interest) that you feel inspired to share with others.
Think: Would I love to be PAID to do, share, or teach this?
You will notice that while you are inspired by all the things on your list, there are some that you wouldn’t want to turn into a career.
For example, I love fashion and shopping. But I have no desire to be paid to be a stylist or to help people master and create beauty through clothing in their own life. That area of inspiration is just for me and my own enjoyment.
However, I am 1000% inspired by writing, self-development, and purpose. THAT is what I love the most and have a deep desire to share with other people.
So, I built my entire career around it. As a result, I have now spent more than a decade publishing books, speaking on stages, and inspiring people to fulfil their mission on the planet.
STEP 3: Observe The Overlap
The overlap between those two areas – what you love to do and what you want to share with others – forms the essential foundation of your dream career.
It is the sweet spot where the vocation you LOVE is born.
Knowing what it is for YOU will help you to:
- Make decisions that move you towards it, and
- Say ‘No’ to opportunities that lead you away from it
The vision of yourself serving humanity with your value will guide you through the years of your life and keep any challenges you experience in perspective along the way.
Once you have clarity on what your dream career is, you have 2 options to fulfil it:
- Option A: Find your dream job
- Option B: Start a business
While there are many people who are fortunate enough to find their sweet spot in a dream job (for example, working for a company that inspires them), many are choosing to build a business around their purpose in life.
In other words, using a business as a vehicle to share their gifts.
When it’s mastered, the path of business provides us with two types of freedom:
- The freedom of income
- The freedom to be paid to be who are
Imagine that: being well-paid to be YOU. Travelling the world, standing on stages, publishing your message, meeting people, serving people, doing your thing, and knowing that what is within you is benefiting the lives of thousands (or millions).
I know it’s not always easy. It takes extensive inner reflection and outer work to establish a thriving career in your own business, but it is worth every effort when you reach that place where you are earning 6-figures every year sharing your gifts with the world.

Wherever you are today, there is an inspiring and financially rewarding career available for you: one where you earn the income you deserve and experience the deep satiation of knowing that you are realizing your ultimate calling here on Earth – every single day.
I know no greater fulfilment than to serve the world with the gifts you were born with. And, I KNOW it is possible for you to thrive while doing exactly this.
So, remain committed to defining and growing YOUR dream career, no matter the obstacles you face along the way.
